Love sports, especially team sports like football and baseball. Football is my favorite, but I’ve developed a like for baseball in recent years… too many Friday nights at the VFW singing Karaoke and watching the Red Sox play I guess. I’m even in my second seaon of Fantasy Baseball.
At any rate I followed the Manny/Dogers trade saga at the “trade deadline” only to be confused when players were traded after that date. What’s the trade “deadline” for if trades still happen after it? Google to the rescue…
Evidently there’s more than one deadline for trades. MLB has an FAQ entry on the subject, if you care to read about it, but basically players can be traded up to the “non-waver” deadline, and then with certain restrictions after that until about the last of August. Players traded after that can’t appear in the post-season.
