After being with eapps hosting on a Fedora Core 1 box for way too long I finally got the itch to move to a Cent OS 5 box. After contacting their billing department and finding out the particulars I had a new VPS system to migrate to. During my off time from work I managed to move 5 domains that I use over to the new sysetm.
The biggest headache was email. I’m used to making up email “user” accounts on the fly to help sort my email. For instance if I have to enter an email address for a store, I’d use something like “storename at domain.com”. I’ve enjoyed being able to do that but it comes at a price and that price is SPAM. In moving to this new system I’ve had to give up some of that flexibility since the new system uses Postini for spam filtering and they don’t support “catch-all” email addresses the way I was used to using them.
I eventually worked around it and as of this evening I’m enjoying a lot less spam and a new Cent OS 5 server! Thanks eapps for making the transition nearly painless!
BTW, if you can read this, you’re on my new server!
