If all there was to wine was the nose, this would be a really great wine. The bouquet was really nice. Getting lots of crisp fruity citrus smells for under $10 is a bargin waiting to happen. However, tasting the 2009 Lapostolle Casa Sauvignon Blanc left a bit to be desired. For me, the acidity was on the low side and the finish left a bitter note hanging in the back of my throat. Not bad for the price, but I’ve had better wine in the same price range.
Over the course of the week I sampled it with variety of dishes and food including crusty chicken, spicy Asian, and goat cheese. The goat cheese took some of the bitter finish away, but it never completely disappeared.
Rating this a 6/10 on my enjoyability scale.
